How Can You use Virtual Visitation to Your Advantage?

As you go through the divorce process, you understand how important it is to keep your children in mind. You want to do whatever you can to provide a routine that allows them to avoid disruption in their day-to-day life.

If you’re granted visitation rights, stick with your schedule to ensure yourself of spending quality time with your children. Also, consider other ideas for remaining a big part of their life, such as virtual visitation.

With this, it’s more convenient to connect with your children, especially if you have a hectic schedule.

Virtual visitation can take on many forms, including but not limited to video conferencing, instant messaging and FaceTime. Here are some of the many ways to use this to your advantage:

  • To help your child with a school project
  • To see your child’s face before they go to bed at night
  • To connect with your child during a special time in their life, such as their birthday
  • To take in a live event

With so many ways to use virtual visitation, you should consider if it’s something that could improve your relationship with your children. If you like the idea, discuss it with the other parent to ensure that they approve of the idea.

While there is no replacement for physically spending time with your children, there are situations in which virtual visitation makes good sense.

If your ex-spouse is making things difficult in regard to visitation, talk to them about what’s happening. If that doesn’t work, learn more about your legal rights and the steps you can take to ensure that they follow the visitation schedule in the future.
