When you find yourself in the middle of a divorce, it’s easy to turn all your attention to the process itself. From property division to child custody, there is no shortage of details that require your attention.

All of that pressure means that it’s easy to look past how important it is to maintain your health. If you don’t focus on caring for yourself, you may soon find yourself feeling ill, thus making it more difficult to remain efficient and productive.

Here are five things you can do to maintain your health during a divorce:

  • Get more exercise: Even if you have to adjust your schedule, make sure you get enough exercise to feel your best.
  • Watch what you eat: There’s nothing wrong with treating yourself when you’re down, but don’t get into the habit of eating poorly every day.
  • Set a schedule: It may not be the same schedule that you had in the past, but it’s nice to have something in place to guide you through the day.
  • Go outdoors: You may not feel like it, but spending some time outdoors is a great way to improve your health.
  • Talk to your support network: You aren’t alone. Your family and friends can step in and help you during this challenging time. A support network will ensure that your mental health remains stable.

It can be a challenge to maintain your health during the divorce process, but when you follow a few key steps you likely won’t struggle as much. When you feel good, it’s easier to focus more of your time on the finer details of the divorce.
